Dear Members, Friends and Patrons,
March and April proved to be a couple of busy months at our club. We had many members in attendance at the meeting on March 15th and thank you to all members who participated in a good membership meeting and St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
I hope everyone had an enjoyable Easter with family and friends. Our Pulaski Club Easter dinner was well attended. We enjoyed a variety of Polish dishes and desserts due to great efforts and hard work of our kitchen staff under the direction of 2nd Vice President Halina Kosinski. The compliments once again go to all individuals helping with all preparations for this special event. “Dyngus Day” held on Easter Monday is always fun. Thanks to David and Princess Bonczkiewicz for their efforts in upholding this traditional event. Thank you as well to all members and friends who contributed to our pot luck table.
April 18th and 19th was once again a great polka event as we hosted the Buffalo Knewz Band who traveled from the east coast to perform for us here in the Valley of the Sun. The hall was filled with polka fans on both days and we were fortunate to have many out of state guests who traveled from California, Las Vegas, Nevada, Colorado, Wisconsin, Buffalo, New York and Canada. Once again THANK YOU to our sponsors Gene Swick and Don and Gale Haderle for support of this special event as well as being with us during this fun weekend. We always appreciate the presence of our friends from California. Thank you to David Bonczkiewicz for his efforts in arranging this event as well as all Board of Directors, our bar staff, kitchen staff, decorating committee and all members who helped make this a very successful weekend.
We only have a couple of club activities in the month of May before we close the club for the hot summer months. Please join us for our “Constitution Day” celebration on May 3, and enjoy once again a delicious buffet dinner and entertainment. I encourage everyone to join us and participate in our next membership
meeting meeting on May 17th at 12:30PM. After the meeting our kitchen staff will serve a special meal and favorite to all “POTATO PANCAKES” or “PLACKI ZIEMNIACZANE”. To help us with the preparation for the “POTATO PANCAKE DAY” please call in your reservation. Hope to see you all at the meeting.
The Rummage Sale which is a fund raiser for the club will be held the first weekend in June. On Friday June 5th from 6:00AM to 2:00PM and Saturday June 6th from 6:00 M to 3:00PM. If you can donate your usable unwanted items for this fund raiser you can bring the items during club events in May or if you should have furniture or big items please call the club and we will make arrangements for drop off. You will also be able to bring your donations to the club on the set up days Wednesday June 3rd and Thursday June 4th between 5:00 PM and 8:00 PM. As always any donation is greatly appreciated and we THANK YOU in advance.
I extend a sincere THANK YOU to all members of our executive committee for their support and dedication to the club during the first part of 2015. Although we will not be holding activities during the summer we all know there is much to be done in getting the club ready for September’s reopening and holding successful and enjoyable events for the rest of 2015. Let’s continue our efforts and have a great year.
As this is the last newsletter issue before we close for the summer, I wish everyone a good, healthy and safe summer. Best Wishes, Mary Kiselus President
1st VICE PRESIDENT – Kaz Tysiac
The club has been very busy in the last couple of months with activities. We have hosted two out-of-state bands (from Minnesota and New York) as well as celebrating Easter and Polonia's Spring Ball...... thanks to all for attending the events and contributing to the success. A special thanks goes out to Paul Nowakowski for washing ALL the pots & pans after the Easter dinner; the kitchen staff were amazed as to how quick the cleanup was after the party.... Paul was a very welcome addition to the crew!
We will be holding the annual Constitution Day Dinner Dance on May 3rd which is expected to be a great event - we have a fabulous dinner planned as well as entertainment by the Padarewski Chorale Society and our featured band, The Varitones. Mrs. Frances Spychalska and Mrs. Jean Jorgensen will be calling members this week to get reservations ... or you can call my cell phone (602-568-7507) and place your reservations.
We have a few more members to be sworn in at the next membership meeting on May 17th, we hope that everyone takes a few minutes to say "hello" to them.
2nd VICE PRESIDENT – Halina Kosinski Dear members, currently, we are preparing to celebrate the May 3rd Polish Constitution Day which falls on a Sunday making it even more special. Our celebration will start with a buffet style dinner at 1:00 pm. The following dishes will be served: stuffed cabbage rolls with tomato sauce, pork roast in mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes, cucumber salad, carrot salad and garden salad. We will have a cheese blintze frying station set up so you can have them fresh and crispy right off the pan. They will be served with fresh strawberry compote or just powder sugar. Our dessert table will feature variety of fancy pastries, fresh fruit and coffee and tea. Between 2:30pm and 3:00pm we will have a short artistic program to commemorate the Polish Constitution featuring Paderewski Choral Society, one of the original groups which was formed within our club and became an independent organization. The Varitones Band will play from 3:00pm to 6:00pm. Our end of the season is fast approaching and our last dance and also membership meeting before the summer break will be the Spring Fling on May 17th, 2-5 pm. Music by Michael Carollo. We are preparing a very special treat for you – Home style potato pancakes, served with sour cream or applesauce plus dessert. Hope you don’t miss this opportunity to try something different and I hope you appreciate our effort.
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD “NEWS AND NOTES” David Bonczkiewicz Hello once again members and polka fans.
We had a BLAST in April for the Buffalo Knewz dance. Thanks again for everyone’s support! We are winding down the spring season with two more events. There is not much on the plate for the summer months. We will have a big push come fall and into next year, trying to fund the roof insulation project. We will be having several events in the fall other than polka dances, so stay tuned and check the web page often for the added fun activities we have planned. Sales on our draft beer have been going quite well. On tap is Bud Lite and Blue Moon, and the club’s newest cocktail the “Jedzy Bomber” is another big hit and as the old saying goes “try it – you’ll like it”.
Any new comments see me in the fall.
SUNSHINE COMMITTEE- SHIRLEY SZTUK
A “get well” card was sent to Gene Swick, and here’s hoping he is feeling better. We miss his smiling face and great personality at our out of town band dances which he helps support for the club.
Please let Shirley know if a thoughtful card or wish needs to be sent to a member.
THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Take the time to be kind … You can make all the difference in someone’s day!
