Dear Members, Friends and Patrons ,
Our New Year’s Day 2014 was celebrated with our yearly “POTLUCK POLKA JAM SESSION”. It was great to see a good turnout and share some of dishes that were served at our New Year’s Eve dinner as well as a variety of potluck dishes and desserts prepared by our members and guests. Thank you to all who took part in this fun event. Following that we hosted “Polka Power” from California. We had many guests from California and it is always a pleasure to see them all at our club. On January 19 th we had once again poor at- tendance at our membership meeting and I hope to see more of our members at our next meeting on March 16th. This is important year for us as we are getting ready for our 75 th Anni- versary celebration. Thank you so much to all the members of the Italian Club who joined us at the January 19 th dance, “Italian Flair”. Your sup- port is greatly appreciated and you are always welcome and we enjoy having you at the Pulaski Club. In the month of February once again we were fortunate to have “America’s Polka Sweet- heart” Stephanie play for us. She is a great en- tertainer and musician and well known. As the bands from out of state make the effort to per- form at the club we need to find out from you the members what needs to be done to improve at- tendance at these events? Special thanks to David and Princess Bonczkiewicz for their hard work in holding this weekend event. New Year’s Eve 2013 was once again a great success and enjoyed by all in attendance. As we all know for any event to be a success a lot of voluntary hard work goes into the prepara- tions. This event each year is a special one, and it requires a lot of hard work and dedication by our officers, directors and members. From the bot- tom of my heart thank you to everyone who helped, with kitchen duties, service, decorations and making our guests feel at home at our club. We received many compliments from guests attending and I extend the compliments to you all “GREAT JOB “. We will be hosting New Year’s Eve 2014 so all ideas for preparations are welcome.
Please refer to our Schedule of Activities for 2014 and join us for the rest of this month as well as all our plans for March. We will be hosting “Buffalo Touch” from Buffalo, New York on March 1 st and 2 nd . Please attend and enjoy the music and good polish food prepared by our kitchen staff. We will also be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at our membership meeting on March 16 th. Hope to see you all. Let’s not forget about our special Easter Dinner on April 14 th and you know our kitchen staff will serve a variety of delicious polish style dishes all buffet style. Fol- lowing Easter Sunday, on Monday April 21 st we will have our annual “Dyngus Day” party and potluck. Please join us and share your favorite recipes and enjoy a fun evening. Thank you to all individuals on our executive committee for dedication of their time and hard work to our club. I welcome to our executive committee our newly appointed Treasurer, Mr. Jim Cioper who has many new ideas and rec- ommendations for our club. I am confident he will do a great job. Thanks Jim, we are happy to have you aboard. Special thanks to our Henri- etta Nemecek for accepting the position of com- mittee chairperson for the 75 th Anniversary Cel- ebration. Thank you as well to all volunteers who already signed up for the various commit- tees. Cooperation like this is was makes our club successful. See you all at our March membership meeting and all future club events. We don’t want you to miss any of the fun. Best Wishes, Mary Kiselus, President
1st VICE PRESIDENT – Sylwia Martynowicz
Dear Members, I’m looking forward to seeing you all again at our March 16 th membership meeting. Later in the year we will be celebrating our 75 th Anniversary and we still need a few more volunteers. Please let me know if you are interested in joining a committee. The board is working hard to prepare for a really elegant evening! There is so much to be proud of when it comes to our Pulaski Club. For the past three years 30% of non-profit organizations in Arizona have disappeared from the market. Luckily we are still here!!! We would like you to be part of our celebration. We will have great performers and an excellent catered dinner for all to enjoy. I’m looking forward to hearing our members saying – “I remember this club 40 years ago…..” I want to hear all of your stories. Please do not miss this event. Thanks for letting me serve you at this great club. See you soon.
“LET’S ALL BE POLISH AND PROUD”

2nd VICE PRESIDENT – Celina Tomaszkowicz Hello everyone, My sincere “thank you” once again to everyone who assisted me with my kitchen duties during the months of December, January and February. As we know New Year’s Eve was a great success only because we had a lot of help in the kitchen and decorating and also organizing the entire event, thank you all. With all your help we served many delicious meals. Thanks so much to Rose Offerman for taking on kitchen responsibility and cooking for some of our events. Great job Rose. We have several club events coming up in the months of March and April for which the kitchen will be preparing meals. If anyone would like to volunteer and extend their helping hand with kitchen duties please let me know. We have a special event weekend coming up March 1st and 2nd. On March 1st Halina Kosinski will be making Golabki, and on March 2nd Rose Offerman will prepare a surprise meal. On March 16, as we will be celebrating St. Patrick's Day and we will off course have Corned Beef and Cabbage. This year our Easter Dinner will be on Sunday April 13, and as usual we will be serving our delicious Polish Buffet style dinner. We do our best to serve a good home cooked meal at our events which always includes dessert. Please join us and support the kitchen.
For St. Patrick's Day and Easter Dinner we will be taking reservations. Please call Celina at (480) 209-8527
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD “NEWS AND NOTES” David Bonczkiewicz
Hello Club members and polka fans, I would first like to thank Sue Flores and the Ari- zona Polka Club for their generous donation to help cover the cost of the Polka Power Band event at the club a few weeks ago and those who attended thank you as well.
We had another meager showing at our an- nual Valentine’s Day dance with John Filipczak and the Classics and our “Honky Polka” week- end this past February 15 th and 16 th with “Amer- ica’s Polka Sweetheart”, Stephanie. The lack of member support especially for our own board of directors on stage with the bands, Paul on sax and clarinet with John, and myself (Nickelcity Dave) along with Bob Jayo performing with Stephanie, I just can’t figure it out?
If we have 150 club members including executive board officers and committees and only 20 percent show up this just shows one’s lack of Polish Pride for the Love of Music and our Polish Home the Pulaski Club of Phoenix Arizona which in fact will be in celebration of our 75 th Anniversary this October 4 th 2014. We have two more Polka events with out of state bands. One next week with the “Buffalo Touch” March 1 & 2 and then “Lenny Go- mulka and the Chicago Push” December 15 &16. For the December event we will make a change to the start times having both dance dates, starting at 2pm – 6pm . I hope the crowd and support picks up or this may be it for the Pulaski club and out of state bands that make a rare appearance. Your executive board puts a lot of work and dedication into all the events to help keep this club going. Many of us cannot attend the festivals in other states, so when these bands appear at the Pulaski Club, we are all lucky to enjoy their music.
Our 2015 calendar will have fewer club events and polka dances and more openings for
rentals and special events. Any questions con- tact Rose Pachura (Entertainment Committee Chairperson). Any new ideas are welcomed.
I am still looking for volunteers to bartend at our events if you are interested let one of the board of directors know and we will get you trained up on all the bar fun times. Don’t forget we have lotto pull tabs behind the bar for all your playing and winning enjoyment. (YES we do have winners) Give Ed Slomkowski a listen to on www.polishnewcastleradio.com - show time is Wednesday 5:00 to 6:00 PM replay on Friday 6:00 to 7:00 PM (2) Three Oaks, Michigan web site - www.radioharborcountry.org - show time is Sunday 4:00 to 5:00 PM and replay on Wed. 11:00 am to 12 Noon (3) Ashland, Oregon web site www.kskq.org - show time is Sunday 7:00 to 8:00 PM Pacific Standard Time.

What a remarkable year this will be for our Pulaski Club. On Saturday Oct. 4, 2014 we will celebrating 75 years of our continuous existence as the very first ethnic group in Phoenix, AZ.
Plans are currently underway to celebrate this great achievement with a semi-formal “Diamond Jubilee” banquet. A catered sit down dinner will be served at 6:00pm followed by a special program at 7:00pm, with dancing and socializing from 8:00pm – 11:00pm.
Members are encouraged to mark this date on their calendars now, and to invite friends to join them for a truly gala and memorable evening. More details will follow at our membership meetings and future club newsletters. Contact Henrietta Nemecek, Event Coordinator at 602-955-5509.

A get well wishes card was sent to Mary Kral, and we all hope you are getting better each and every day.
Our sympathy goes out to Shane Prosser, one of our board of directors, and his entire family on the loss of his dad. And also to the family of long time member Emily Szymanski on her passing. Let’s keep these families in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

Plans are being set for work to be done during the summer break.
The Pulaski Club of Phoenix Arizona is looking for individual or groups interested in devoting or donating to our organization fund as we pursue a new ”BAR” liquor license. This will allow us to go public and open our doors on a more regular basis to the local community. Cost of new license is $71,500.00.
We will continue to be a Polish/American membership social club and continue to rent out our hall for social events, this will also open our doors to establish a NEW local clientele and enjoy our Polish culture and heritage. A daily operation, sponsored events, lunch and dinner specials, happy hours, music venues and a weekly event schedule.
So if you would like to be part of the “Polish Experience” join us and donate your part to our “Bar License” fund and show your Polish Pride!
