Dear Members, Friends and Patrons ,
Best wishes to all. I hope everyone had a good summer and survived the monsoon season. Before ending club activities for the summer months, we held a couple of events. May 4 th “Constitution Day” was a success and enjoyed by all in attendance. The buffet dinner was wonderful. There were many compliments to our kitchen staff. Great job Ladies and Gentlemen. We all know how much effort and hard work it takes to prepare a special event dinner with variety of dishes. Thank you so much to everyone who extended their helping hand in preparation for this special day which is celebrated at our club each year. Our Membership Meeting on May 18 th was once again not well attended, however, it was a good meeting and we were able to address many issues and summer projects. We had new members join the club and we welcome them all.
As we resume club activities, our first event will be our Membership Meeting/Appreciation Dance on September 7 th with FREE admission for Members, Veterans and First Responders. Our membership meeting will start at 12:30 PM. I encourage all members to please join us for our meetings. Member participation and involvement is needed to ensure our success. We have important issues to address as we prepare to hold a very important event in our club’s history, our 75 th Anniversary Gala on October 4 th . Thank you to Henrietta Nemecek and all individuals serving on the committees for this special event. At our September Membership meeting we will be appointing an election committee, as election of new officers will be held at our November Membership Meeting.
During the hot summer months a few of our summer projects were accomplished and we have many more on the agenda. We were also faced with replacing our refrigerator in the kitchen. Thank you to everyone who helped with all we needed to do during the summer. Thanks, to Bruno and his staff for taking care ofthe refrigerator delivery and A/C repair. Special thanks to Larry Tysiac for securing shelving in our storage room, mirror repair and many repairs which needed to be addressed. Before reopening we will hold a Rummage Sale on August 29 th and 30 th 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM both days. Set up for this event will be on August 27 th and 28 th starting at 5:00 PM. Donation of items for the Rummage Sale can be dropped off at the club on set up days.
On a sad note, on August 12 th we lost one of our life time members Maria Szymczak who passed away at the age of 92. Being a member for many years, Mrs. Szymczak served on various committees and devoted much of her time to the club when it was most needed. On behalf of all of us I extend our deepest sympathy to family and friends of Maria Szymczak. The funeral luncheon was held at the club on Saturday August 16 th . Thank you to the ladies who helped with food preparation, service and cleanup, Jean Jorgensen, Celina Tomaszkowicz, Henrietta Nemecek as well as our bartenders Paul Chojnacki and David Bonczkiewicz.
We only have few more events at the club before the end of the year, the most important one on October 4 th, our 75 th Anniversary banquet. Please attend the events and support your club. Hope to see you all at our Membership Meeting on September 7 th .
Best Wishes, Mary Kiselus, President
1st VICE PRESIDENT – Sylwia Martynowicz
Dear Members, We are about to celebrate the 75 th Anniversary of our club, and we are still focusing on some painting and decorating projects. If you feel like you would like to contribute please give me a call or an email. (firstname.lastname@example.org) We can always use an extra helping hand! Henrietta is doing a fantastic job on the planning and organizing of this great event. Thank you so much Henrietta for all the work you have done so far. One can’t even imagine how many hours this project requires. Also we have had to purchase a new refrigerator for our kitchen, after 20 plus years of service our old one retired. We purchased a new one for $2500.00 which was quite an expense for us at this time. If you would like to make a donation to help cover some of this cost, PLEASE do so, it would be greatly appreciated. I hope to see all of you at our next membership meeting on Sept. 7th it’s a special one for members, veterans and first responders who all have FREE admission . Come on out and have a great afternoon with your friends here at our wonderful club.
2nd VICE PRESIDENT – Celina Tomaszkowicz I hope everyone had a good summer and got some rest over the past few months, because it’s time to get back to work at the Pulaski Club. Our first event is September 7 th and the kitchen will be open. We will be serving our delicious pierogi dinner along with a tasty dessert. As always we are looking for volunteers to help at our events, so if anyone would like to lend a hand, please let me know. The next big event to look forward to is our 75th Anniversary, which everyone is working very hard at to make it special and to have it be a huge success. I hope to see you all there. As always, all the kitchen preparations, serving and clean up help are greatly appreciated.
I can’t say it enough --- Thank you all!!! Smacznego
Let’s all try to attend more events at the Pulaski Club and have fun with your friends.
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD “NEWS AND NOTES” David Bonczkiewicz
Welcome back members, friends and polka dancers. It has been a HOT summer but it’s time to get back to club activities. Over the summer we did a little remodeling, moved things around and even painted the trim outside. Thanks to Larry and “Kaz” Tysiac for the interior work, a job well done. I would also like to thank Stanley and Winnie Serafin for the donations of the Polish art décor that is now displayed above the kitchen entry area. We had planned to do more repairs and upgrading but due to lack of funding this had to be put on hold. Oh yes we had to replace our kitchen refrigerator and now we need a replacement for our storage refrigerator that just went out. So anybody have an extra fridge or wanting to donate? Please let me know! Speaking of funding folks, we cannot function as we are now as a club and expect to remain open and continue to have events without support of our members. There are a lot of things that go on behind the scenes that you do not see or are aware of that we do that takes a lot of time effort and money. As I mentioned before and I’ll say it again we need to look at opening our club up to the public, hire a club manager and run the club as a day to day operation if we are going to survive. I have talked to other “private club” organizations and with the hiring of a club manager and paying them a manager’s fee and hiring a small staff they are doing well. This is just something to keep in mind as we try to continue to stay afloat. We have adjusted some of our drink prices. Well and top shelf booze has gone up one dollar to stay competitive with other clubs and also cost of drink product supplies. This will reflect on rentals as well. Entertainment wise, we have decided that next year 2015 will be the last year for the out of state bands performing at our club. We have scheduled in Feb. “Craig Ebel & DyVersaCo”, in April we have the return of the “BUFFALO KNEWZ” and in Nov. the return of “TONY BLAZONCZYK and NEW PHAZE”. This last treat of bands is all due to lack of
participation from members and our dancing community. We averaged 60 people at the last three dances, I have to find a way to bring in the polka dancers and bar standers. Suggestions PLEASE! I hope to see you at our Sept. 7 th meeting/dance, it’s FREE” admission to members, veterans and first responders.
