Dear Members, Friends and Patrons,
What a great start to the New Year! On January 20th we hosted the Steve Drzewicki Band from Bay City, Michigan and their guests from Michigan, Wisconsin, Canada and California; it was great to see the dance floor crowded and people smiling from ear-to-ear. On February 11th we hosted the Skorpion band for our Valentine's Day party for the Polonia group; they entertained the group initially with waltzes and ended the evening with fast paced music that had hands and feet flying. In February our Polka crowd was entertained with a wonderful variety of polkas and waltzes by Sam Pecorilla's band and John Filipczak's band. We are now making final preparations for another Polka Event on 03/12/2017 with Sam Pecorrila for our St. Patrick's Day party. Please make plans to join us for an afternoon of great food and music. Our biggest events of the season are right around the corner: Easter Dinner Dance on 04/09/2017 and Constitution Day / Mother's Day Dinner on 05/07/2017. As always, we recommend making your reservations early (especially if you have a large group requesting a specific table). Tickets prices remain at $15.00 for each member, $20.00 for each non-member, children between the ages 7-14 are halfprice ($7.50 if child of a member or $10.00 if child of a non-member) and children ages 6 and under are free. We must not forget Dyngus Day, celebrated on Monday 04/17/2017 from 6-9pm. What is "Dyngus Day"?? Since 966 A.D., Dyngus Day has been associated with the baptism of Prince Meiszko I. The custom of pouring water is an ancient spring rite of cleansing, purification and
fertility. Tradition states that Prince Meiszko I was baptized on Easter Monday thus being the first King of Poland to be baptized into Christianity bringing Catholicism to Poland. In more modern times, the tradition continued when farm boys in Poland wanted to attract notice from the girls of their choice. It was custom to throw water and hit the girls on their legs with twigs or pussy willows. In the USA the Dyngus Day celebrations was said to have been started by the Chopin Singing Society in 1961 in Buffalo, New York! Judge Ann T. Mikoll and her husband Theodore V. Mikoll held the first party at the Society’s clubrooms on Kosciuszko Street in Buffalo’s Eastside. The success of the Dyngus Parties during the 1960s led to other Dyngus dances on the Eastside including those at the Broadway Grill, the Warsaw Inn, and the Polish Singing Circle at the New York Central Terminal and continuing today at the Hearthstone Manor in Depew, New York. Everyone has already received a letter from the Executive Board regarding our large fundraiser project - to replace the entire roof on our "home". We hope that everyone will purchase a booklet of tickets and encourage your friends and neighbors to participate. Although we don't have a firm cost for the replacement of the roof we will keep all members updated during future meetings of our progress - God willing, we hope to replace the roof in early 2018. THANK YOU to our members for attending our recent events, your support is vital to our success. We look forward to seeing you at our upcoming event.

As always we extend a warm welcome to all new members sworn in at our membership meeting January 15th. It was great to see all of our members at the meeting and welcome the newly elected officers and directors who will serve on our Executive Committee for the next two years. I hope 2017 will be a great year and we can all work together in best interest of the Pulaski club.
We are in fundraising mode for a very much needed improvement of our building’s roof. I am sure everyone received the mailing with the raffle tickets. Please support us in this fundraising campaign. We are asking for your help and counting on your support so we can accomplish this much needed project.
I extend many thanks to everyone helping with our Polonia Event on February 11th “Valentine Dance. It was a great success and enjoyed by all. Thank you as well to so many individuals who supported us in purchasing the roof raffle tickets at event. Your generosity and support is greatly appreciated.
Hope to see everyone at all of our scheduled events

It seems as if we just celebrated Christmas and March is already upon us and we have a few big events upcoming on our schedule:
March 12 – Membership meeting followed by a dance to honor St.
Patrick’s Day. Sam Pecorilla Band will entertain and we will serve traditional Irish stew, dessert, coffee or tea.
April 9 – Easter Dinner Buffet. 1PM – 3 PM and 3 PM to 6 PM dance to music by Nickelcity Express. Our menu consists of the traditional ham, sausage, ground beef and pork cutlets, mashed potatoes, pierogi and a selection of salads, plus a dessert buffet. At this time I would like to ask those of you who like to bake to contribute to our dessert buffet by bringing a homemade cake or pastry that is ready to serve. If you decide to do so, please let me know the type of dessert you are bringing.
April 17 - Monday, after Easter - Dyngus Dance –Nickelcity Express from 6 – 9pm. It is a Potluck so bring your favorite dish to share with everyoneMay 7 – Constitution Day –Buffet Dinner and Dance to Nickelcity Express. We will be serving Polish Style home cooked food. As last year’s “Bake Sale” was a success I feel it is worth repeating again. We had many good pastries to choose from and many people enjoyed buying them. I would like to extend it to other products such as jams, jellies, salsa, vinegars, pierogi, crapes etc. The club’s kitchen will also prepare some food selections for sale.
We will have a reservation signup sheet for both, Easter and Constitution dinner-dance, at the door, starting March 12th. You can also make a reservation by calling Halina at 602-909-4965. Remaining members will receive a reminder call one week before the event

On Saturday April 22 “Dazzling Country Ball” will be held at the Pulaski Club. This event is sponsored by the Cameo Foundation of AZ. This is a Fundraiser for “Victims of Domestic Violence”. Contact Rose Offerman 480-233-7836 for tickets as this is a “Private Event” by ticket only.
CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD- Paul Chojnacki
Thanks to Dave and Shane, along with all our staff for enabling a smooth transition to the new Directorship. We are saving more money this season than last thanks to high turnout on Dinner/Dances, out-of-town band Fests and rentals. This is despite sizable repair costs and equipment investment. “Regular” in-town-band dances that once comprised most of our schedule continue to decline. Facility issues: A/C unit that leaks rainwater. Torn west side awning. Cramped storage spaces. An inside/outside security monitoring system has been installed for our safety. We strive to provide the best cultural and entertainment value possible. Thanks for your support and look forward to serving you in the future.
