*President’s Corner*
Dear Members and Friends,
April is upon us and spring is in the air. Since we had a pretty wet winter, as a result our desert flowers are now in full bloom. If you have a chance to take a ride out of town, you will be amazed at how beautiful the desert can be in the spring.
I have had some personal sadness recently as my Mother passed away on March 8th. She was 78 years old. It is at a time like this that when John Filipczak sings the song “To Mother” that it really hits home. To all who send cards and expressed your condolences and to those who came to the Memorial Service on March 15th, my sincerest thanks and appreciation. It is at a time like this that words of comfort and prayers from friends and acquaintances make it possible to get past this time of personal sorrow and grief.
Our work is never done. We will be spending some more of our hard earned funds to make some necessary parking lot improvements and re-striping. Thanks to the Board Of Directors for so diligently getting several estimates and getting the best possible deal for the Club.
I trust that you all had a very nice Easter Holiday, and also you did not get too wet at our second annual Dyngus Day Dance.
Now that it’s time of spring and renewal, let us all smile and bring happiness to those around us and, as our own “Nickelcity Dave” would say, “Let’s Dance the Polka and be Happy”.
This month we have three scheduled events, starting with the theme of “April In Paris” on April 4th, which falls on a Friday. John Smoltz will entertain, and we’re planning something special for this evening. Please check the schedule on the back page for times.
On April 20th, John Filipczak and Arizona Classics will entertain from 2-6pm. The final event for this month is on April 27th, and John Smoltz will again entertain us from 2-6pm.
Let’s have fun at the Pulaski Club in April..
Your President, Casimir Kosinski

1st VICE PRESIDENT - Chez Falkowski:
Lately I had to travel to Poland to attend a quite sad family event. On that trip, I made some observations which I would like share with you.
In Poland, the new governments made so many promises during the election that a serious attempt to fulfill them all would wreck the national budget and create the Argentina style economic crisis. After 100 days in power, the new Prime-Minister said it would take 3000 days (that means eight (8) years or two terms) to implement his earlier promises.
We are in the presidential election season in this country. Media advertising also bombards us with all kind of promises made by politicians.
On another note - during my flight I involuntarily overhead the argument of a young Russian speaking couple. The couple had several ounces of gold jewelry on them. The lady was in an emotional distress over safety and security. I never saw those kind of emotions at the Pulaski Club, and I hope that we all pursue the personal happiness and not the "gold".
You also may hear about the Polish movie "Katyn". Many Americans never heard that word before. It is the name of the place in Russia close to Smolensk City. It is one of the places where soviet NKVD murdered thousands of Polish POW - all of them were officers.
During Communist times, it was total "taboo". Any mention of this war crime
would bring regimes' reprisals. You might read about this war crime in
books: The Murderers of Katyn by Vladimir Abarinov; Katyn: The
Untold Story of Stalin's Polish Massacre by Allen Paul. The movie makes
the point that German Nazis and Soviets were systematically murdering the
Polish intellectual and professional elites. Unfortunately, the results of
these holocausts are still pretty much felt in Poland.
Well, in spite of the sad episodes in our world history, let's
bring our smiles and good feelings to our Club on every occasion.
2nd VICE PRESIDENT - Halina Kosinski:
We’re going to serve something special for the “April In Paris” night on April 4th. No fancy French menu, but something French, nonetheless. It is a Friday evening event, so we are hoping for a nice turnout. Please do come hungry. We hear many of you come in and say “Oh, we just had dinner”. We will pack it for you to take home if you don’t want to eat while you dance; but please, plan on supporting our kitchen and the folks who work so hard to prepare these meals for you.
TREASURER - Mary Kiselus:
February was another profitable month for the Club. Events and rentals in February brought in income of $7,332.00. Total expenses for the month totaled $4,566.80 for a profit of $2,765.20.
Happy Spring to all, and please join us at the Club for our April events. Best Wishes to all, and THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT.
FINANCIAL SECRETARY - Diana O‘Loughlin:
Thank you for all the renewals. Dues are $24.00 a year. Check your membership card, and send a check to the Pulaski Club. If you know of anyone with address changes, have them fill out the form in this newsletter or they can contact me with the changes.
SUNSHINE COMMITTEE - Shirley Sztuk:
A sympathy card was sent to Casimir Kosinski whose Mother passed away.
Our sympathies are with our President’s family.

News and Notes
1) W O W - Another successful month for the Club in March. Jerry Darlak and the Touch of Buffalo NY provided top notch entertainment and had a sell-out crowd for both Saturday and Sunday dances. Fun by all from California to Chicago and from the bar to the kitchen. I would like to thank you all for your support in making this a successful weekend. Mark your calendar for the weekend of October 18th and 19th. We may be bringing in another well known Polka Band from back East. It looks like the Pulaski Club is the new “Way Out West Polka Hot Spot”. The word is getting out to the bands back East about our beautiful Club and what a great time is had by all. Also in March, excellent entertainment by Stan Blout from California, our own John Filipczak for the Easter Dance, and yours truly The Varitones Band for the Dyngus Day Dance to end the month with a fun time polka event. I hope to see our members continued support for the events this month in April; and don’t forget bring a friend to the Club.
2) We will be having a membership drive for the club June 8th and September 7th. This is the time to check your membership card to make sure you are up-to-date on your dues and bring new potential members to join our Polish Club. Bring a friend to our Polish-American club because we Polish people like our dances packed!
3) We received approval from the members at our last meeting to resurface the parking lot. This should be completed on or about the middle of April.
4) Prizes and Surprises - At our April 20th dance, members will get a dollar off admission when you show your membership card; and on April 27th bring a guest and get 2 bucks off the admission for the dance.
5) FRIDAY NIGHT SOUNDZ… has been put on hold until further notice.
6) BARTENDER: QUESTION: Why does beer seem to pass through a person's body much more rapidly than for water to pass through? ANSWER: Because beer does not have to stop for changing its color!!!
7)
BAR-STANDERS:
ITALIAN ALTAR BOY'S CONFESSION: This could only happen with a
little Italian kid! “Bless me Father, for I have sinned. I have been
with a loose girl.” The priest asks, “Is that you, little Joey Pagano?”
“Yes, Father, it is.” “And who was the girl you were with?” “I can't tell
you, Father, I don't want to ruin her reputation.” “Well, Joey, I'm sure to
find out her name sooner or later so you may as well tell me now.” Nothing
but silence from little Joey. “Was it Tina Minetti?” “I cannot say.” “Was
it Teresa Mazzarelli?” “I'll never tell.” “Was it Nina Capelli?” “I'm
sorry, but I cannot name her.” “Was it Cathy Piriano?” “My lips are
sealed.” “Was it Rosa DiAngelo, then?” “Please, Father, I cannot tell
you.”
The priest sighs in frustration. “You're very tight lipped, Joey
Pagano, and I admire that. But you've sinned and have to atone. You cannot
be an altar boy now for 4 months. Now you go and behave yourself.”
Joey walks back to his pew, and his friend Franco
slides over and whispers, “What'd you get?”
Little Joey Pagano replies, “Four months’ vacation and five good
leads.”
8) BARTENDERS WANTED: A schedule is posted inside the bar area. If interested, ask the bartenders to sign you up, as we still have some openings. Or call me, and I’ll e-mail you a schedule. David at 602-741-8214 or e-mail me (nickelcity_dave@yahoo.com).
9) RENT THE HALL: The Pulaski Club is available for all your social events. Basic club price is $1,200.00. This includes a 6 hour rental, cleaning deposit, and damage deposit (refundable). In addition, we offer full bar service, a house “DJ” service (Nickelcity Dave), security, kitchen, and a list of available catering services for your event. Call 602-275-9329 to reserve the club for your special event.
10) Pulaski Club is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. All donations are tax deductible.
