*President's Corner*
Dear Members and Friends,
On November 7th, 2009, we have had a wonderful 70th Anniversary celebration and it was made even more exceptional by the guest appearance of the Podhale Dance Ensemble from Los Angeles, who performed for approximately 20 minutes displaying their talents and their beautiful costumes. See photos posted on our Group site.
We thank John Sobanski, the director and choreographer and all the dedicated dancers and support staff, who made the long trip to help make our birthday party a success.
My sincere thanks to all those who contributed to making this event a success and especially to those who donated all the beautiful gifts boxes for the door prizes and to Mary Kiselus for supplying the tasty appetizers. In addition, thanks to Mary Kiselus, Jeanie Jorgenson and Halina Kosinski who donated the beautiful chair covers. In addition, Mary Kiselus furnished housing for the group, while in Phoenix. Bog Zaplac Mary.
I hope that we will all be around in 2014 to celebrate the 75 Anniversary of the Pulaski Club.
We elected three officers at our Nov. 15th Members Meeting. Frank Tomaszkowicz and Paul Chojnacki to the Board of Directors and Jim Cioper to the Board of Trustees. We congratulate the new elected officers and thank Frank Kanios, the outgoing member of the Board of Dir. for his dedicated service to the club. The “Oath of Office” ceremony will be held during our Christmas Dinner and Dance on December 13th, 2009.
We will be hosting, for the first time, a new band from Canada, the John Gora and Gorale Band. They will be performing on Dec. 5th and 6th and the Meet-n-Greet will be on Friday, Dec. 4th.
A four time Grammy nominated band. Sample their music on the website- http://www.johngora.com/ Please come out and enjoy this group as their reputation precedes them and tell all your friends too.
On behalf of all elected officers I wish to extend our sincerest best wishes for this
Holiday Season
and wish you a very

Casimir Kosinski, Your president

1st VICE PRESIDENT - Chez Falkowski:
Four new members were sworn-in during the last month membership meeting. We warmly welcome Stella Hurni, Sher Bruckner, Elizabeth and Richard Gorzynski. Also six other applicants – Joe Mieszala, Paul G. Novakowski, Anna and Bruno Makowski, Paula and Ed Leshinski were approved by membership but could not attend the meeting and swear-in ceremony - welcome to our Club. We have the membership meeting every two month. I hope you will be able to attend the next meeting.
We definitely live in the interesting times. The ideas and life style are constantly evolving - not necessary in the direction we like. Of course, we complain about worsening economy, X-generation etc unless we give ourselves a multi-million dollar bonus as CEOs do in this country. Lately I have an opportunity to compare two events lasting a few days each and involving thousands of young people. They took place in
Poland this summer. During the first one, widely publicized by media and called appropriately “Operation Woodstock”, the chief organizer (Mr. Owsiak) encouraged from the stage the rowdy crowd of several thousand with slogan “do whatever you wanna do”. Well, they did just that and certainly were not outdone by “the flower children” in the original Woodstock event. The other one was the religious happening. It took place on a bank of the lake where in the year 966, Polish prince, Mieszko the First, supervised the large ceremony of baptizing Polish tribes. As you easily can imagine, not every pagan wanted to switch to a new faith in those days. A few years ago a middle aged monk (father Góra) had the idea “of passing the torch” of faith from generation to generation in the same place. He organized a group of volunteers and supporters and spread news, thru them, to the young people. Several thousand participants showed up on the lake’s historic bank (called Lednica Fields). There was a lot of live hard-rock and hip-hop music for entertainment but without rowdy lyrics. The crowd danced the nowadays style. I call it “jumping”. The monk challenged the crowd thru PA system “jump higher, higher”. That was not the biggest surprise. The moment came when the monk called for praying. The very noisy crowd went into silence in a few seconds and followed him with prayers. Quite a few universities from abroad came to the monk to learn about his ability and methods of gathering and controlling a large crowd of youth. They thought he worked out some brilliant mass-marketing methods. The monk politely refused any lengthy discussion but stressed that he was passing just “a wonderful idea” and that rallied supporters not mass-marketing methods. I hope we all are passing “wonderful ideas” to youngsters around us.Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
2nd VICE PRESIDENT – Halina Kosinski
With December upon us, we tend to focus more on special foods and drinks as well as festive decorations to help us celebrate the most joyous Holidays of the year.
We will be decorating the club’s hall the first week of December to create this festive ambiance for the upcoming events:
December 5, Saturday
–– Breaded pork Shish-Kabob served with potatoes, green beans, sauerkraut, cucumber salad, plus desert and coffee. This meal will be prepared by Rose Offerman and Wayne Trinka.December 6, Sunday
–– Goulash, potato dumplings, vegetable, pastry and coffee or tea.December 13, Saturday
–– Our traditional Christmas Buffet Dinner and Oplatki. We will have baked ham, sauerkraut, sweet and sour chicken, potato dumplings, vegetable side dishes, salads, desert bar and coffee or tea. All pastries and deserts will be donated by our members and guests. This year we would like to lower the price due to hardships in these tough economic times and to give members a little “something” in return for your support of the club.
Members - $12, non-members $14, Children up to 6 years – free, 7-14 @ ½ price.
This dinner is usually well attended so, please, call and reserve your table by Dec. 10th – Halina – 623-487-9821.
For those who will be bringing your children or grandchildren to our Christmas Dinner, please call me with the number the children and we will prepare gifts of candy for each one. If you’d like to bring your own gift bags please bring them with the children’s names on them as we will have a traditional visit from Santa Claus.
I would like to thank everyone who helped me throughout the year in the kitchen and with decorating the hall. Without your help and support I could not manage either of those duties.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
