*President’s Corner*
Dear Members and Friends,
A very Happy New Year 2008 to you all. I trust that everyone had a nice Christmas Holiday. I know for sure that the folks who attended our Annual Christmas Dinner on December 9th had a wonderful time. The food was great, and the atmosphere was cozy with all the new decorations and the wonderful band, John Filipczak and the Arizona Classics. All we needed was the “chestnuts roasting on an open fire.”
We did a Christmas carols sing-along in Polish and English, with the help of John Filipczak and his concertina. It was a family affair too, and Santa passed out presents to all the kids, young and old. Just like in the old days, I m told.
In addition, the elected officers who switched duties from being re-elected or newly elected were all introduced and took their oath of office during the Christmas Dance. Congratulation to all of you and thank you for volunteering to serve our Club and our members.
We have had a very nice 2007 at our Club, and I feel that we accomplished quite a lot. We look forward to all the activities we have planned for 2008. In spite of some major expenses, we still finished the year with our bank account somewhere south of $20.00. I'm just guessing on the numbers, as all financial reports for December 2007 have not come in as of the time when this is being written.
We will be having our Members Meeting pretty late this month due to the Holidays and the dance schedule. The bi-monthly Members Meeting will be on January 20th at 12:30pm, and Sam Pecorilla’s Variety Gems will entertain you after the meeting.
There will also be lunch served from our kitchen. Speaking of our kitchen I feel that it behooves our members to buy the meals (which are prepared for us by our dedicated kitchen staff) so that it is worthwhile for us to continue to provide that service. At one time we discontinued the meals due to poor sales. But then we received several calls asking for the meals to resume.
It takes a great deal of preparation and volunteer time to make each meal, and it would be gratifying to see that all the food is sold. That makes a few dollars for the Club. Thank you in advance for your support.
The 70th Anniversary of Pulaski Club's existence will be in 2009 and we are considering having a big celebration with a formal ball and a catered dinner to honor this event, as we did for the 65th Anniversary. Any feedback from YOU, our members, would be appreciated.
We will be having fewer dances this year, but they were scheduled with other organizations in
Mind, so as not to have a conflicting event. My thanks to Diana & Tom O'Loughlin for making up the dance schedule and booking all the bands with such diligence. I hope you will be pleased and will attend these events in 2008. The schedules have been printed, and they are also posted in this newsletter and on our website.
I am also grateful to Carol & Norm Fritchie, our newsletter editors, for their efforts and great service to the Club. But I am informed that they will only be doing this until the summer break, and then we have to find someone else to continue this work. If there is anyone that feels capable or wishes to learn on the job, please raise your hand. A computer and a printer will be essential for this, as we are beyond typing it up on a typewriter. No put down to those who don’t use computers, but the work is greatly simplified by using the new fangled technology.
You have been looking at it and appreciating it for the past couple of years.
Let s ALL have a GREAT TIME at OUR PULASKI CLUB in 2008.
Your President, Casimir Kosinski

Messages from Officers & Committees
1st VICE PRESIDENT - Chez Falkowski:
December 21, 2007
Traditionally I would like to wish everybody
Zdrowych i Wesolych swiat Bozego
Narodzenia oraz Dosiego Nowego Roku.
By the way, Europe got big bashes even
earlier the festivities on occasion of removing the
border control with more countries. Today, eight
newer members of the European Union enlarged
the Schengen Zone. What does it mean? There
are no border guards or duty officers while
traveling by land. You can legally swim, hike, ride,
or drive across the borders in any place without
being stopped. It is like driving thru the U.S.
Although I bet if one drives from Yuma to Phoenix,
then our watchful INS will stop one at least once,
but if one drives from Gibraltar to Warsaw then
there will be no checkpoint. Of course, Ireland and
Great Britain keep their splendid difference and do
not belong to the Schengen Zone.
Unfortunately, it also means trouble for
some of the citizens of the Ukraine, Belarus, and
Russia etc. Their visa fee will increase drastically,
and they will have to prove their ability to support
themselves in Europe for a month. It will hit really
hard the people just visiting relatives in Poland or
making a living by private trading or smuggling
goods to Poland. There are a lot of such
entrepreneurs in bazaars at Polish cities close to
the eastern border. In March 2008, the Polish
government will introduce a so called Karta
Polaka (the Pole Card). Poles living behind the
eastern border will have special rights to lower visa
fees and will be eligible to study in the Polish
universities. According to statistics: 150,000 Poles
live in the Ukraine, 400,000 in Belarus, 150,000 in
Russia, and 60,000 in Kazakhstan. European
officials acknowledge that the next big and
meaningful step for the average man will be
accepting the euro as currency for all countries in
the Schengen Zone.
I hope everybody remembers about our
Polish traditions and customs during Christmas.
Enjoy your family and the Christmas spirit. Happy
New Year.
2nd VICE PRESIDENT - Halina Kosinski:
One of the real joys of the Holiday Season
is the opportunity for me to say Thank You to the
many people who helped to make the past year a
success. Special thanks go to the people helping
me in the kitchen, especially with the buffet-style
dinners. Those special people are: Barbara
Falkowski, Celina Tomaszkowicz, Irene Kozlowski,
Barbara Komar, Frank Tomaszkowicz, Ursula
May, and Bruno Klus.
Thank you to those who occasionally help by
baking a special dessert, like Bruno s mother-inlaw
s paczki, Barbara Komar s cheesecake, Genie
Jorgensen’s kolaczki, and Ursula May’s rosettes
etc.
Many Thanks to Wesley Ochocki, Frank
Tomaszkowicz, and Mr. and Mrs. Falkowski for
helping with cleanup and decorating of the hall
before the Christmas Dinner. Thanks to Mary
Hanson for helping with lighting the candles and
placing snacks on the tables before our dances,
and thanks to numerous ladies who voluntarily
take tablecloths home for washing and ironing
after an event.
Recently, with Maurice Marciniak’s help, we
changed the decorations above the stage to make
it more reflective for the upcoming New Year’s Eve
dance.
I wish everyone a Very Happy & Prosperous
New Year 2008.
TREASURER - Mary Kiselus:
We did it folks!!! I am happy to report
November was a profitable month for the club.
November events along with the rentals
brought us income of $8,453.45. Our expenses for
that month totaled $5,731.64. Profit for November
was $2,721.81.
I hope we can finalize 2007 with a nice
profit in the month of December.
My best wishes for a happy, healthy,
and prosperous New Year to all!
FINANCIAL SECRETARY - Diana O Loughlin:

anyone with address changes, have them fill out

NEWS & NOTES
Happy New Year!!!! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday, and a Happy
New Year? As we move into the New Year, the Board of Directors persons are busyat it again. I would like to thank Frank Tomaszkowicz and Wieslaw Ochocki forworking on the floor and the door trim. We will be looking at remodeling the bathrooms in the near future to bring them up to code and resurfacing the parking lot.
If anyone has some old sports memorabilia they would like to donate to the bar, let me know. I would like to display some old and new (i.e. Banners, pictures, signs).
We had a nice turn out at our last Friday Night Soundz (that s DJ music of just one certain type). Thanks for your support! Tell your friends, come on out for some good music, and meet some new friends. The Chicago dogs aren’t bad either!
BARTENDERS WANTED: A schedule is posted inside the bar area. If
interested, ask the bartenders to sign you up, as we still have some openings. Or call me and I’ll e-mail you a schedule. David @ (602) 741-8214.
FRIDAY NIGHT SOUNDZ will continue in 2008, look for the new schedule
of Friday night events when you re at the next dance or look on the web site.
BARTENDER JOLKA POKES: Chet loved tennis, but was also a fanatic about the condition of the court. He was actually more concerned with the net and wanted it to fall straight, even, and still. Over the years, Chet developed a large comb to make sure the net on the court was just perfect. Many of his opponents became accustomed to Chet's antics; but when he began combing the net, they finally couldn't stand it and would yell out, "Yeah Chet, Yeah Chet, comb your net Chet."
BAR-STANDERS D.W.I.: Two friends are in a car, drinking beer. All of a sudden they see flashing lights behind them. The driver looks at his buddy and says,"What the hell are we supposed to do? He will never believe that we weren’t drinking in here!" His buddy says, "If you calm down and do what I say, I can get us out of this." He tells his friend to peel the label off of the bottle and stick it to his forehead and toss the bottle in the backseat. They both put the stickers on their foreheads. As the cop walks up to the car, he says, "Good evening fellas. Have you two been drinking?" The driver says, "No sir." "Then why are there Budweiser stickers on your foreheads?", asks the officer. The passenger replies, "We're on the patch."
GOLF LESSONS: Any one interested in golf lessons, contact Bob Schreiber who is a professional PGA golf instructor and one of our newest members. Discount to Club members, contact Bob at (602) 315-3266.
RENT THE HALL: The Pulaski Club is available for all your social events.
Basic rental Club price is $1,150.00. This includes a 6 hour rental, cleaning deposit, and damage deposit (refundable). In addition, we offer full bar service, a house DJ service (Nickelcity Dave), security, kitchen, and a list of available catering services for your event. NINE COMMANDMENTS
OF VOLUNTEER WORK
1. A volunteer should never boast of his/her accomplishments.
2. A volunteer should not demand recognition for his/her accomplishments.
3. A volunteer should not be resentful or put on a sour face because his/her efforts were not recognized, in the manner he/she expected.
4. A volunteer should know that his/her actions will speak for them self, if they are worthy.
5. A volunteer should not judge his/her own accomplishments, since it is difficult to be objective when judging your self.
6. One should know that volunteer work is thankless, and that may be its most noble quality.
7. A volunteer should not expect any financial reward.
8. A volunteer should move back into the shadows, if his/her leadership role is causing feelings of envy or jealousy among other members, or his/her behavior is causing undue tensions.
9. One should not preach about the virtues of volunteer work, if he/she does not practice what he/she preaches.

HOW CAN YOU BECOME A MORE LOVING PERSON?
Instead of judging other people, try to understand them.
Be more accepting of faults--especially those that you possess yourself.
Be willing to give more than you get back.
Love yourself the more self-love you have, the more love there is to give to others.
Have faith in God, have faith in yourself, and have faith in the goodness of others.
Be generous with your wisdom. We all know things that can help others on their journey through life.
Listen better, try harder, give more.
Reevaluate your goals be sure you are motivated by generosity and not greed.
Hang a giant heart from your roof to let everyone know you are friendly. It might even catch on in your neighborhood.
Be forgiving toward the world in general--share your love, not your anger.
