*President's Corner*
Dear Members and Friends,
My wish for our club is that all our events will be well attended; that we get plenty of volunteers for all the committees and work that is ahead of us for 2010 and that we can save enough money to get the necessary upgrades done to our kitchen.
The kitchen staffing is one of the areas we need to improve with more volunteers. Volunteering for hall cleanup needs improvement too. It used to be that one day each week, members of the Board of Dir. and volunteers would come to the club to do the general cleanup that’s needed. Now, we pay someone to do this job because we have no volunteers that could or would do this anymore.
The year 2009 was not all that charitable to the club which is no different than the general state of our economy. That’s the reason that I am hoping that we get better attendance at our functions this year than we did in 2009.
I do have a reminder to our members that at our November Members Meeting it was proposed and approved that we raise the membership dues to $30 from $24. Anyone renewing your membership after December 31, 2009, will pay the new fee, even if you are late with your renewal.
We have pondered the idea of making all renewals due in January but we decided that because of the current set up it would be too complicated and time consuming to make the change.
Another issue we discussed is the newsletter. Even with electronic delivery by e-mail, we still have quite a sizable monthly cost along with postage and printing, not to mention the effort by Chez Falkowski and whomever he gets to fold and staple and apply the address labels and postage.
It was suggested that we, perhaps, go to a bi-monthly issue to correspond with our general Members Meetings? It would certainly save a lot of effort and cost for the club. We left it up in the air and, therefore, I am putting it to you – the readers – to let us know if you rely on the newsletter that much for all your club information? Please let us know how you feel.
Please attend all our functions and support the kitchen too. We will miss the food when there will not be any to be had.
We have a great club and a great group of members and supporters. Let’s make sure it stays that way.
Your President Casimir Kosinski

1st VICE PRESIDENT - Chez Falkowski:
Please, attend the membership meeting on Sunday, January 24th, 2010, at 12:30pm. I invited every applicant to attend this meeting as well - we would like to have a short induction ceremony for you. After that you become a regular Club member.
I got another short reminder. If your membership dues are subject to renewal the current month or are already delinquent then I will send you a note in one of the following ways: I will put ink-stamp words “PAST DUES” in the Club’s newsletter for recipients of printed copies. For members receiving the newsletter by e-mail, I will send a separate note via bulk e-mail. I get a list of the names from Dennis Pachura, our financial secretary.
Currently, the cost of printing and mailing b&w newsletter issue thru a post office is about $100. In my opinion we might publish it bi-monthly but add two pages more. Our cost would be about $116 per issue. By the way, I would love to send the newsletter by e-mail only.
2nd VICE PRESIDENT – Halina Kosinski
As 2009 comes to a close, I would like to thank those of you who helped me with so many of the duties and responsibilities of my office. Among those are: hall preparation, table set up, washing and ironing tablecloths and food preparation. The members who are most readily available to help are Barbara and Chez Falkowski, Ziggy Korsak and Henrietta Nemecek. I am also very grateful to the following ladies for washing and ironing the tablecloths: Shirley Shtuk, Rose Offerman, Barbara Falkowski, Rose Pachura, Genie Jorgensen and Frances Spychalska.
Rose Pachura was instrumental in increasing our club’s income by organizing raffles and silent auctions with the help of Rose Offerman and Pat Jayo who helped in donating and collecting prizes as well as selling raffle tickets. Thanks to the organizers and all the donors.
Our rummage sale was a successful event for the club and Henrietta Nemecek took the helm and put it all together with the help of many volunteers and donors. It took numerous hours donated by many or our members to get this done. Thank you all.
Rose Offerman and Wayne Trinka donated fresh meat prizes for the raffle, volunteered to prepare a meal twice and donated all food that was used to cook it. Thank you both.
Thanks to Kathy Forman and Chris Lolli who took over the kitchen duties on one occasion. It’s a great start and I am sure there is a lot more culinary talent that can be shared with the rest of us. So, step up and volunteer, as many more volunteers are needed to lighten the load for the few of us who have been doing most of the work.
I hope the coming year will encourage in you more of the spirit of voluntarism and give confidence to more of you to get involved in the many aspects of the club’s operation. We need you all to support the club but we also need hands-on help too. The elected officers are here to organize and guide but not to do all the work. So, please be generous with your time and assist us with a helping hand to make us a true Polish Home, filled with hospitality and friendship. On that note I wish everyone a very happy and prosperous New Year 2010.
Treasurer – Mary Kiselus
No Report this month.
FINANCIAL SECRETARY – Dennis Pachura
At our membership meeting in November 2009, a motion was made, seconded, and approved by members to increase our dues from $24.00 to $30.00 per year, effective January 1, 2010. Please, check your membership cards and mail a check to the Pulaski Club or pay me your dues in person. Remember, membership dues are now $30.00 per year. If you know of any member who has an address, phone or e-mail change, have them fill out the form in the newsletter or contact me by phone at 480-802-0775. Thank you for paying dues timely.
Dear club members and friends. Over the summer months I’ve received many calls about club activities and hall rental availability, looks like the word is getting out about our club. Not much work done this year over the summer I guess we’ll save that for our kitchen remodel for the summer of 2010. With the economy the way it is, the club will continue to keep its drink prices at or just below our competitor’s prices and I hope to continue with our monthly drink specials the beer buckets went over well before we broke for the summer. What to do on Friday nights? Any ideas let me know, the club is closed on Friday nights why not spark up some type of entertainment. Maybe some ballroom dancing, karaoke, euro disco music…? Any questions you may have about the upcoming season or club issue – talk to me or send me an e-mail nickelcity_dave@yahoo.com. Once again thank you for your support.
