April 2005
President's Corner:
Dear Friends,
The month of March and Easter is over and gone and by the time most of you get to read this, April Fools will be behind us too. I hope that you weren’t fooled into thinking that Arizona is a cool tropical climate State, by the recent weather we’ve been having. Well, we all know that the hot weather is just around the corner and all those pretty spring desert flowers will be going away in just a short while.
Our window pop-out project got a little delayed due to the contractor attempting to raise his original quoted price so we dismissed him and are still in the process of finding someone else or having a work party to play with mud, just like the old sand-box days. We all used to like to play in the mud – didn’t we?
April is going to be a busy month for the Hall. We have a fundraiser scheduled on April 2nd to raise more funds for our planned remodeling which is to take place this summer, after we start our summer break in June. Zbigniew Galazka Trio, will be playing and we expect a large turnout of our younger rock-and-roll crowd. We had a few “Polka Fans” show up for our past dances and were disappointed. So, you have been warned – this is not going to be a Polka Dance night by any stretch of the imagination.
Our remodeling committee is planning to take down the ceiling, remove the existing stage, tile the floor in the bar area and install new lighting, complete electrical and hopefully a new public address system. That’s the plan at this time, my friends. Therefore, if any of you have some moldy old banknotes stuck under your mattress, which are making your night’s rest very lumpy and uncomfortable – by all means – we will come with the Brinks armored truck to relieve you of your burden and will even rename the club hall after you. Just imagine: Bobby-Joe Smith’s - Pulaski Club Hall. Perhaps it should be: Maria-Theresa Kowalski’s – Pulaski Club Hall? I do like the sound of that.
Our Easter Dinner and Dance, on March 20th, was not at all well attended. We had no more than 30 people show up and that included almost the entire Board. Those of you who could not attend missed a great buffet feast, prepared by Stanley Kopec and many contributors. The leftovers were packaged up in carryout boxes and sold for later consumption. The meal was delicious so thanks to all those who contributed. One could not get that kind of meal for twice the door charge. Have a wonderful Month and support Your Pulaski Club.
