DECEMBER 2006

*President’s Corner*

Dear Members and Friends,

I trust that you all had a great Thanksgiving Holiday and are ready for the Christmas Holiday Season.

The Pulaski Club held the November Elections of Officers, and several new members have volunteered to work for the good of the club and its members; and I am thankful for their willingness to do so.  I hope that you will appreciate this as well.

Congratulations to both new and re-elected members of the Executive Board, and you can find the complete list of the officers for the year 2007 will be in the next issue.

I would like to thank all outgoing members of the Board for their service and dedication in making our club and our facility one of the premiere venues in the Valley of the Sun, for Polka dances as well as beautiful rental facility for all occasions.  The outgoing officers are:

?  Outgoing First VP:  Rose Pachura.

?  Outgoing Second VP:  Frances Spychalski.

?  Outgoing Financial Secretary:  Diana OLoughlin.

?  Outgoing Recording Secretary:  Halina Kosinski.

?  Outgoing Board of Directors members:  Bob Jayo, Henry Spychalski.

?  Outgoing Board of Trustees members:  Stella Wojski, Dennis Pachura.

?  Outgoing Sergeant-At-Arms:  Frank Tomaszkowicz.

A few of the outgoing officers were elected to new Executive Board positions, and I am pleased to see that our officers are evolving into new responsibilities.

The Induction Ceremony for the entire board will take place during our Christmas Dinner on Dec. 10, 2006.  Please show your support and enjoy the great meal and program planned for that day.

We will also have the opportunity to thank all the outgoing officers for their service.  Its a good possibility that Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus will make a return visit.

We plan on decorating the hall in the usual Christmas tradition with a lot of Polish flavor, and it will be nice to see all your smiling faces before the end of 2006.

On a personal note, it will be my privilege to serve as your president for two more years, and I thank you for your vote of confidence.

I wish you all a wonderful Holiday Season, a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Your President, Casimir Kosinski

"Beer Games" is Bad Idea

by David J. Hanson, Ph.D. A forthcoming one-hour television special broadcast called the "World Beer Games" is a bad idea and may contribute to the abuse of alcohol. Sixteen teams from around the world will compete for the title of "world's best beer nation" and a silver plated beer-keg trophy. Research has demonstrated that drinking games encourage the rapid consumption of large amounts of alcohol within short periods of time. Therefore, they constitute alcohol abuse and are associated with numerous drinking problems. Societies with low rates of drinking problems tend to encourage both moderate alcohol consumption and abstinence as equally acceptable choices. However, they find the abuse of alcohol totally unacceptable by anyone under any circumstance. Glorifying alcohol abuse in the "World Beer Games" program is constitutionally protected by free speech. However, it is highly irresponsible and reflects the very poorest of judgment.

EYE sight: A woman, standing nude, looks in the bedroom mirror and says to her husband, I look horrible, I feel fat and ugly. Pay me a compliment . The husband replies, Your eyesight s damn near perfect . He never heard the shot

Messages from the Board Members

FIRST VICE PRESIDENT -Rose Pachura:

The end of the year is getting close, so check out the band schedule on the Activities Page in the newsletter, and post this on your wall for the future dances. We are having other bands play for your dancing entertainment. Please let us know if you enjoy their music. The following people who need to be inducted are Ewelina Jedryczka; Bartosz Jedryczka; John T. Filipczak Sr; Myrna R. Filipczak; and Annette Ottomeyer. I will be sending out reminder letters, with a follow-up phone call to them. We had a WINNER! Wieslaw Ochocki won $30.00. You must be present to win! So in January, the pot will be $5.00 at the membership meeting. All new and current members have their names in the pot. Come to the membership meeting, and you could be a winner too!

ENTERTAINMENT DIRECTOR-Rose Pachura:

Our "Simple to Elegant" Fashion Show was a success! Thank you to all of the committees that helped with this fundraiser. We appreciate all of you! Thank you ladies for donating your baskets; they were all beautiful for the raffle. We didn't sell as many tickets for

the fundraiser as we were hoping, but we did have a lot of fun doing it. There were only three sellers who completely sold their tables. We took in $3,835 for total income before expenses, and we should make around $3,000 after expenses. We all have friends at different places; and if there were more members showing the effort, we could have made more money for the Pulaski Club fundraiser. I have heard more people say they would like to participate in another event next year.

The guests enjoyed our male dancers. "What good entertainment this was"; so thanks to Dennis Pachura, Ray Jorgensen, and Gerry Masyga. Good Job! I gave them their name as the "Father's of the Chip-N-Dale's". They gave the ladies a thrill from dancing and

Dennis hugging the ladies in the audience. The guests enjoyed this, and it made the fashion show have a little excitement. They did have clothes on to entertain!!

The clean-up from the Fashion Show went very well. Everyone knew what they had to do, and it got done fast. It didn't take long to get this done. The ladies took home the tablecloths to wash them. We thank you for this! I want to say, I had very good committees that

helped to make this Fashion Show a success.

The food servers did an excellent job getting the food to the people while the meal was hot. The audience really enjoyed that! Thanks for a job well done!

Last but not least, a big thank you to Maurice Marciniak for the beautiful decorations and the donations from Nordstrom s. Thank you to all the businesses that made donations, and to the people that went to pick up the donations. We appreciate you!

Thank you to Dave Bonczkiewicz for the beautiful music and to our models for a beautiful show. Great Job!

Thanks to Case Kosinski for all your hard work for making the flyers, the programs, and for helping with the prizes. We appreciate you!

HAPPY HOLIDAYS TO EVERYONE!

TREASURER -Mary Kiselus:

Month of October was a busy month at the club. All the events, donations, and dues collected gave us income for October of $6934.00. Our expenses, which included our property taxes in the amount of $3438.05, totaled $7033.34. Therefore a loss for month of October was $99.34.

Thank you to all our members for participating in our Fashion Show event. It was a success and a very enjoyable event. It also brought good income to the club which will be reported in November financials.
