February 2005
President's Corner:
Greetings Members, We’ve started the New Year with a bang! We had a nice turnout for our “trial” Saturday Night, Meeting-Dance. Now we need some feed back from the attendees so that we can conform to your wishes. Thank you all who attended the January meeting for being tolerant of the rookie president and didn’t boo too loudly for my mistakes. I promise to improve with time and age. I just don’t know why the membership thought we needed a new treasurer? We’re all just trying to do the best we can for the good of the club. Dennis Pachura and the Trustees have done a great job in 2004 (keeping the treasurer in line) and will continue to do so this year. Good luck Mary Kiselus! Just jesting y’all.
The Executive Board, at the last monthly meeting decided to dedicate the income from the last trip to Mazatzal Casino in Payson, to the tsunami flood victims in Indonesia and Thailand. I hope all our members will support this initiative at the next membership meeting and will add to the $600.00 already dedicated for this purpose. You can write a check to the Pulaski Club with a note that you are donating for the tsunami victim’s relief fund and we will then funnel all the funds through AmeriCares charity. Multitudes of thanks to Rose and Dennis Pachura and all those who helped in the effort of organizing these trips. Everyone is very pleased with the party atmosphere on the bus and hopefully all the “players” are returning loaded - no, not that way – I mean with loaded pockets. My apologies for the meal at the last meeting-dance being little less than anticipated by most but out new 2nd VP Stas Kopec, has to get used to our member’s high expectations and finicky pallets. (Tongue-in-cheek) He promised to more than make up for it in the future.
Our new Chairman of the Board, Bruno Klus, along with all the members of the “Remodeling Committee” are making final remodeling plans for the interior of the hall and bar. I think that all of you will be pleased once those plans are carried out. The hall was built in 1951 and the infrastructure has mostly remained unchanged, with no upgrades except for the air-conditioning. The plumbing and the electrical is the most urgent priority and we have volunteer contractors standing by for funds to begin the work. Graciously, most of the labor will be donated. All we have to pay is the materials costs. At a profit of only a few hundred dollars from each event and the overhead costs being quite high, it will take several years to raise adequate funds to begin any major undertaking. The Board is trying to come up with alternative means of financing. If anyone has any suggestions, please bring it up at the next meeting or drop us a note and we will consider all ideas.
Let’s have a great February and come out and support YOUR Pulaski Club.
-Casimir "Case" Kosinski
