October 2006

From the President

Dear Members and Friends,

We’re back in full swing with dancing and having fun at the new old Pulaski Club with a great dance agenda for the remainder of the year.

A “Nominating Committee” of three was appointed at the September Membership Meeting and they are as follows:  John Twarog, Frank Kanios and Chaz Falkowski.

Of you would like to serve your club by declaring your nomination for any office than please contact any of those three Gentlemen.  The election for new officers will be held in November and you have until than to either put your own name in or to nominate someone who you know will be willing to serve.

One member brought up the subject of unnecessary expenditure by installing all that pretty wood on our ceiling.  I’d like to clarify this false impression.  All the beams and all the redwood on the ceiling was put there in 1950, when the clubhouse was originally built.  As our illustrious past president, Stan Serafin explained at the June meeting, the dropped ceiling was installed sometime later, when the building had a new air conditioning installed.  The theory was that by reducing the space, it will be more efficient to cool and heat.  All we did during the remodeling is to remove the dropped ceiling, re-routed and painted the AC ducts and installed all new electrical and new lights.  Since the original wiring was installed in 1950 it was high time to upgrade it throughout the entire building.  Removing the drop ceiling not only enhanced the look of our hall it also facilitated access to perform the rewiring.  In addition the North wall, behind the stage, and the West wall, which got a lot of sun exposure, were both spaced out with 2X4 studs and properly insulated and finished with drywall.  I hope that clarifies any misunderstanding.

I will be away for a few weeks so the October meeting will be chaired by our First VP, Rose Pachura.  I will return for the Oct. 15th, Pulaski Day dinner-dance.

Enjoy the entertainment by Lynn Taraski and the Open Kitchen by Frances Spychalski and the ladies, following the Oct. 1st, Membership Meeting.

Casimir Kosinski
